Today is the last day, for the rest of his life, that he will be a two year old. That is kind of depressing to think about because it has gone so fast. Scary fast, which I know I've been mentioning a lot as of late. If you're a parent then you completely understand what I am saying.
It was a slow morning but really picked up this afternoon. After our nap, I took Dillon to Target with me to get a few things since Mr was shaving his head and getting ready to go play poker tonight at a friend's. He wore his sunglasses the entire way there, it was cute! He wears them around the house all the time, but they are always mixed in with his toys so I forget to grab them when we leave the house. And being in Hawaii, sunglasses are a must!
After dinner, Dilly and I went next door and he played with Keanu and opened the gift that they got him. They won't be able to make it to the small party we're having so I said if she wanted, he could open there so she could see him at least. They got him a Toy Story sleeveless shirt and short set and also a nice collared button down shirt with denim shorts, both outfits are adorable! She also had set aside some dresses (hand me downs I'm guessing, they look lightly used) and gave them to me incase I am having a girl. They are the cutest little dresses and one could definitely be in the running as the "homecoming" outfit if we do have a girl! She's having another boy but she said she wanted to give them to me just incase! If not, then I'll definitely give them back...but hopefully it's a girl! I thought that was so kind of her though.
I wrapped Boog's gifts and cleaned the dining room *aka the play room* up. I went through his toys and boxed all of the McDonald's happy meal toys as well as his broken Woody doll (the voice box doesn't work right anymore) and another noisey learning toy that he doesn't touch (needs batteries and the microphone is broken). I gave the box to Cherry, my neighbor, to put in her yard sale tomorrow. I told her she can do whatever she wants, sell them or put free on it. I just feel better having her sell/give them away then to just toss them into the garbage. Then I dusted the table and put all of Dillon's presents from us and the ones he got in the mail from his Nana and Pap Pap on the table. Hopefully he pays no mind to them tomorrow or he will be getting in trouble!! I think he'll do well though. I also cleaned up his toys by putting them into the bin and relocating the bin and his play rug. One of his gifts from Mommy and Daddy is a huge pop-up play tent that has a large part that is a ball pit, two tunnels and two smaller areas. It can all be connected or separated too. I plan to leave it connected and put it along the one wall where his toys and rug were. It will be left up at all times, so for now it looks uneven in there.
I'm fighting off this pain I keep getting in my right breast. I have been having it for a few days and will definitely be bringing it up at my appointment this coming Thursday (Oct. 14). I am wondering if it's a cyst or clogged duct...I hope nothing serious. But it is extremely painful, to the point where sometimes it makes me cry. We shall see I suppose.
I was going to start rolling the change in Dillon's piggy bank, but I am too tired tonight. He has to have almost $100, if not more, in that piggy! Aside from change there are bills ranging from $20's down to $1's. Once I roll all of the change, I plan to take the rolls and bills to the bank and open him a savings account in his name. With that much money, it should be earning interest! I think once a year I'll take his piggy money to be deposited. I've started giving him money for helping, I explain what a great helper he is and today he even got $1 for helping me with the laundry! My hips/back were hurting too much and he carried it all into the laundry room for me. So I gave him the $1, explained what it was for and he put it into his piggy. He was very excited. He might be young, but I think he sort of understands that when he helps he earns a reward. And I think it's a much more useful reward than toys or candy (which he doesn't get except on special occasions)!!
I can't believe when I kiss Dillon goodnight, before I go to bed, that it will be the last time I kiss a 2 year old! Tomorrow, in celebration of his birthday, I think I will blog his birth story. It will probably be lengthy, but absolutely worth the time it will take.
Oh, Christina. You seem to be having such a hard time with Dilly turning 3. Don't worry. He will always be your baby no matter how old he is and even when your new baby comes.
ReplyDeleteI am concerned with this pain in your breast. Please make sure you do ask about it at your appointment. Like you said, it is probably nothing to worry about, but why take chances. You need to be sure...especially with two little ones counting on you.
I love how you are rewarding Dilly for helping you. It is never too early to try and teach the value of money and the point of rewards and working for things. As he gets older and wants things that are above and beyond what you feel you should buy him, he can always use his money and that will also show him the value of earning money and how it is to use his own money wisely. You are such a great mom.
I am looking forward to hearing all about his 3rd birthday party! Enjoy his special day.
Hugs to you all!
Linda
